As college becomes increasingly expensive and financial aid grows more competitive as a result, many students are left behind.

With such a large number of students applying for the same opportunities, applicants with average or below-average GPAs are often overlooked, making it difficult for them to afford to earn their degrees so they can achieve all of their goals for the future.

This scholarship seeks to support students who are passionate about pursuing higher education and need financial assistance to do so.

Any high school junior or senior who has a cumulative GPA between 2.0 and 2.9 and will be attending a trade school or pursuing a four-year undergraduate degree after graduation may apply for this scholarship.

To apply, tell us about yourself and what your post-graduation goals are.

I am writing to express my interest in applying for the nursing scholarship being offered by Alcide Thomas Jr. Scholarship. I believe that this scholarship will help me achieve my career goals and make a positive impact in the healthcare industry. I am currently enrolled in the medical assistant program at Zachary High School, and I have maintained an average 2.5 GPA throughout my academic career. I also play tennis for Zachary High School; it has not only been a passion of mine but has also provided me with valuable opportunities to develop my leadership potential. Throughout my years on the tennis team, I have learned to lead by example, communicate effectively, and persevere in the face of adversity. These skills have prepared me for success in college and beyond, and I am eager to continue to hone them as I pursue my education and career goals. As a member of the tennis team, I have been fortunate to receive several awards and recognitions for my accomplishments on the court. These accomplishments have instilled in me a sense of pride and responsibility to be a role model for my teammates. I have learned to lead by example, setting the tone for hard work, dedication, and sportsmanship. Whether it's demonstrating proper technique, staying focused during practices, or supporting my teammates during matches, I strive to be a positive influence on and off the court. I am also excited to inform you that I will be enrolling at Baton Rouge Community College to complete my prerequisites for nursing school. I am thrilled to take the first steps towards achieving my dream of becoming a nurse. After completing my prerequisites, I plan to transfer to Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University to pursue my Bachelor's degree in nursing. I am particularly interested in receiving my bachelor’s in nursing because from a young age, I have been drawn to helping others and making a positive impact on their lives. As I grew older, I became increasingly interested in healthcare and the different ways that healthcare professionals could improve the well-being of patients. I was particularly drawn to the nursing profession because of the holistic approach that nurses take to patient care, considering not just the physical symptoms but also the emotional and psychological needs of patients. As someone who is deeply committed to making a difference in the lives of patients. Upon completion of my Bachelor's degree in nursing and working for two years as a nurse at Lane Hospital, I plan to apply to the Nurse Anesthetist program at Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University. I am highly motivated to pursue this program because I am passionate about providing patients with the highest quality care and minimizing their discomfort during surgical procedures. Receiving this scholarship would not only help me to achieve my goal of becoming a nurse, but it would also allow me to focus on my studies and develop the skills and knowledge necessary to become a successful and effective healthcare professional. This scholarship will be an important factor in enabling me to achieve my long-term goals of becoming a nurse anesthetist and contributing to the advancement of patient care. If awarded the scholarship, I would use the funds to cover my educational expenses, including tuition, books, and other related costs. This would enable me to focus on my studies and fully engage in the nursing program, without having to worry about financial constraints. In conclusion, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for your consideration of my application for this scholarship.

I want to put all my effort into my future, I want to improve my skills so that my potential can be achieved. Time has flown since my alarm clock screams at me to get out of bed every morning as a young boy, my best memory was describing myself as an engineer. After graduation, I want to move to college to develop myself, get more experience, and focus on myself. I have always loved traveling to new locations and I hopefully find a job in an engineering field. After graduating, I want to develop the skills that will help me accomplish the success I’ve always wanted to accomplish. I will work as hard as I can, and I will do what it takes to get there. I am going to approach everything in life with a positive attitude and a lot of excitement. I strongly believe I am going to be a successful person in my whole life. I want to start making my wishes come true by obtaining my bachelor’s degree from Texas State University, Once I graduate, I aspire to follow my dream by starting my career before graduating, and I believe that will make me more successful. I know I will be prepared for a good life by all my college Professors. After graduating I want to be known at the end of the journey as a hardworking person who achieved all the goals she wished and made a major difference in individual lives. My goals are not to gain the highest or the highest pay, although I’m interested in learning and gaining knowledge. Time management will be essential in my career in the sense that I will need to schedule a time for my career and home life. Time management allows me to keep my stress levels low by making sure that I have a complete schedule for everything that needs to be done every day. My time will be applied wisely and I will display my efficiency to those I work with. I am a natural decision-maker and have no problem making difficult decisions with large responsibilities attached to them. I am not a passive individual and my active leadership personality is unmistakable. I am not a lead-by-orders type of person but rather a lead-by-example. I want to be active in the community and make a difference in our society. Most importantly, I want to enjoy each day I spend in the career that I have chosen.
