New York Yankees Pitcher Marcus Stroman’s Height Doesn’t Measure Heart Foundation Launches Scholarship for Bronx High School Seniors in Partnership with Bold.org

March 26, 2024

New York, NY – The Marcus Stroman Height Doesn’t Measure Heart (HDMH) Foundation, in collaboration with the educational platform Bold.org, is proud to announce the launch of the Marcus Stroman Scholarship. This pioneering initiative aims to empower high school seniors, offering them a chance to pursue higher education without the burden of financial constraints.

The scholarship underscores Stroman’s dedication to giving back to the community, with a generous commitment of $200,000 over the next five years. Bold.org joins this effort with an additional $50,000 commitment, bringing the total scholarship fund to $250,000 aimed at supporting youth. This year, two deserving students attending high schools in the Bronx will each receive a $25,000 scholarship to cover their freshman year college expenses for the academic year 2024-2025.

“The mission of the HDMH Foundation is to create opportunities for in-need youth to rise above their circumstances, realize their greatest potential, and never stop pursuing their dreams,” said Stroman. “I am so proud that the creation of this scholarship will help Bronx-based students access transformative opportunities during their collegiate years and award students who have an absolute determination to achieve greatness and have their dreams realized without the stress of affording those dreams.”

“This scholarship is not just a financial aid but a statement that everyone deserves the chance to pursue their educational dreams,” said Tori Meglio, VP of Donors. “The Marcus Stroman HDMH Foundation and Bold.org are excited to see the impact this scholarship will have on the lives of deserving students in the Bronx community.”

Empowering Dreams and Academic Aspirations

Understanding the financial barriers many students from the Bronx face, the Marcus Stroman Scholarship seeks to alleviate the burden of college tuition and related expenses. With the Bronx having the highest poverty rate in New York City, this scholarship is a beacon of hope for those dreaming of higher education.

Eligibility for the scholarship includes seniors attending a Bronx high school, demonstrating financial need, and possessing a minimum GPA of 3.0. Applicants are asked to share an essay about their dream college or university and the reasons behind their choice.
