Professors are almost always available for a one-on-one conversation to go over any material, as well as they know you personally by name.
It is a smaller college town, but there is always something to do. You also don’t have to worry about crime or assaults here.
It is a small area school, if you are interested in the outdoors, and a generally more secluded school Platteville is the place. There is definitely partying, but nothing compared to the big schools across the US. The academics are the best part of the school and is the reason I am here.
Not much to do in Platteville or the surrounding area if you dont like fishing, hunting, or drinking. Hiking areas are great though.
UW-Platteville is a very welcoming community. The majority of students are friendly so it is very easy to make friends. There are a lot of study groups and clubs to be a part of that can help you meet new people and do plenty of fun things in your free time. The professors are great too, very kind and understanding if you take the time to go into their office hours and ask questions during class. The only thing that UW-Platteville lacks is diversity. Although there are various cultural and gender groups, it might be a little difficult to fit into a specific cultural or gender group.
The lack of diversity definitely makes it harder for other races to feel comfortable.
UW-Platteville is the "just right" size campus for people who are trying to hang out with friends. There are plenty of options available for recreational fun! I enjoy UWP because a lot of the professors are down-to-earth and very easy to have a conversation with. The professors here are happy to help students during their "office hours" if a student is struggling or has questions outside of class. Professors encourage all students and really do seem to care & want students to succeed. Overall, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville is a great campus & place to live. The small-town vibe & gorgeous sunsets make everything worth it.
Those who are concerned about living on-campus at UW-Platteville should know that the campus is well-lit at night. As a female student myself, I can find the idea of walking alone at night intimidating. Despite this, I have never had any worries or felt unsafe on campus. UWP also has a large series of "blue-light" spots on campus, where a student may press a button, and immediately, that signal is sent to on-campus police. Then, police would be dispatched to the area, where officers would either escort a student to their destination while also keeping an eye out, in case the student felt they were being stalked, etc.
Great community and environment that allows for a warm and fun learning experience. It’s a well worth cost to attend.
Maybe one or two less hills.
I like the newly constructed engineering building.
There is not much to do in Platteville.
