The union is nice, the mall is close by, but the union is very expensive. It is primarily a commuter campus so prepare to see lots of cars around. But everything is super close by regardless
It isn't a party school or anything like that so don't expect a bit of social life.
High-level academics. Highly recognized college. Easy to commute to.
I have been very happy with U of M.
You get the same quality of education as UM Ann Arbor in much smaller classes.
The social scene here is extremely lacking as it is a commuter campus.
They have a lot of resources available on campus. Make sure to use them.
The advisors are not the best.
I think if you like a smaller-scale environment, but still want a bigger name like the “University of Michigan” this is perfect for you. Dearborn campus is a commuter campus, but there is a student apartment building across the street you can live in. Personally, I think it’s a great way to transition between high school and a huge campus. I will hopefully be transferring campuses soon, but this is undoubtedly a good school.
I don’t like how lonely it can feel if you are not from the state of Michigan and/or nearby cities. It feels like everyone else can relate except the few out-of-state students that the school does have. I think at other colleges I visited, I definitely felt more accepted and that is why I will be transferring.
It is a great place to learn, and professors are very hands on, thanks to smaller classes. this allows them to get to know you, and provide one on one help if you are struggling.
The campus life does leave something to be desired. There arent a ton of student organizations, activities, and there isnt and greek life.
