SUNY Oneonta has been my home for the last 3 and a half years. I've met some of my closest friends, got my very first job, and achieved so much here. People have been incredibly helpful when I've needed help and everyone I've encountered has been friendly. I was deciding between Oneonta and Fredonia but I'm so so glad I chose "Oney". That one choice changed my life. You can have a great social life here. There are several clubs you could join to meet new people and there are always activities on campus. Wilsbach dining hall is my favorite because I worked there for 3 years and it was a wonderful experience. I'm vegan and I was amazed at how many food options they provided me. As for academics, I'm a music Industry and theater major. I love being part of both of these programs because it has been a great learning experience with amazing teachers. Couldn't recommend SUNY Oneonta enough!
The only thing I didn't like in Oneonta was the lack of scholarship opportunities for international students like myself. My scholarship advisor was not helpful at all and it was disappointing
It's a small but efficient school. Easy to navigate and meet good people.
Sometimes people are very cliquey
Most of the teachers I had thought were amazing. They were understanding, kind, patient, and good at actually teaching instead of just lecturing and testing. Some of the other buildings are nice too.
I was not a huge fan of Oneonta, I believe most of the reason is that it was not a good fit for me. Unfriendly students and some bad teachers are expected to be found at any university. The dorms aren't super classy, some are a bit sketchy. The RA's don't always do a great job at following the rules or keeping an eye on their halls. They often stink of weed.
