I like the opportunity to take classes online and on-campus. The registration process is very easy and there are multiple options for different class schedules to fit around people who work full-time or traditionally take college classes.
I didn't like how some of the advisors treated me when I was registering for the online campus and had to switch advisors. He tried to make me feel less than because I called to understand the enrollment process and class schedules. I ended up switching to another advisor and had a better experience.
My education was very meaningful to me at the time. The only unfortunate thing is that it was completely directed by religion (Christianity), and I am no longer a member of this religion. The education itself was still very high quality with amazing campus life. They are also adding many programs that are not as religion-focused, but they will all be taught from a Christian perspective which alienates many people.
Being in the south, and being rooted in Christianity, this campus is overwhelmingly white, middle class or higher, and (at least assumed) straight & cis-gendered. The "lifestyle agreement" that was in place during my time there (2010-2014) was incredibly conservative and frankly unrealistic for young adults (total abstinence from sex outside of marriage, no alcohol - even if you are over 21, and others like this). There are plenty of systemic issues with Christian (and other religious) organizations, and sadly this university is no exception.
I love the uncommon community, and how it creates a space where you can not only grow academically but also spiritually.
How conservative it is, honestly. I am very progressive but sometimes the rules seem too much.
One of the things I like about Johnson is the environment that we are in constantly. There are so many loving and caring people that are not just students, but faculty and staff as well. They pour into each student and hope that they carry on the information learned in class even after graduation.
One thing that I do not really like is that the food is not always good. Some days there are options that nobody wants to eat and it is hard to get food some days because of my schedule.
