I like that Creighton has a small community where everyone knows each other.
Be aware of the dinning hall food.
Outstanding Philosophy department, wonderful Art History departments. Small classes with great professors.
While professors are great, many students are shallow and pretentious--even though they're pretty mediocre at whatever they do.
I've enjoyed my time here. Creighton has helped me develop professionally and academically.
The Arts and Sciences side of campus is not as well funded as the business school.
I've heard good things about the renowned Creighton Nursing Program in the past and now being a part of it myself I can honestly say that the reports are right in this matter thus far. The courses are rigorous yet enjoyable and the teachers make the curriculum mostly digestible for students. Creighton being a Jesuit institution means students are required to take other "MAGIS" classes that are unrelated to their major which I actually came to enjoy. One class, in particular, that was actually my favorite of the entire year was Theology. Coming from a public school to a private Catholic University taking a class such as that was not an option for me in the past. So, of course, also having a Christian background I relished the opportunity to be able to take it. I found the course to be both informative as well as provocative in the sense of challenging one's core beliefs as a Christian that most people are taught growing up. However, holistically I would say that my first year attending Creighton was definitely a sign of good things to come.
It is definitely a Predominately White Institution (PWI) so be ready for that. Tuition is very expensive even with aid so be ready for THAT. A lot of things are expensive in the stores here which you wouldn't think would be the case with the tuition being so high but unfortunately, it's still true. Oh yeah, BE READY FOR THAT!!!
I like the prestige and the benefits of being connected to Creighton University. When people know you go to school here, you are able to create connections and network with hundreds of people. I have gotten many opportunities to shadow and get volunteer hours because someone recognized my attendance at Creighton or through professors and other staff. When people hear that you go to Creighton, they know that you are smart and that you are willing to work. I was able to meet students in medical school and staff in the medical school during undergrad because of networking and the community Creighton has.
Be aware of the time commitment of your classes and the rigor of your courses. College is nothing like high school and you will learn quickly that you need to put a lot of time and effort into everything you do. You don't need to study 24/7, but you need to prioritize your education above everything because Creighton offers rigorous courses. There are great professors that make these classes easier and more doable, and there are others that make the class difficult. Talk to other students and use online resources to find a professor that meets your teaching style and you think will give you the best chance at getting an A in the course.
