I have 3 brothers and no sisters, so I have had to show grit my entire life. I learned from a young age to aspire and dream- if your dream isn’t scary, it’s not big enough. I decided I wanted to go into the Foreign Service when I was backpacking in Alaska this summer. This statement really defines my personality: I’m well rounded and ambitious. I paid for a 3 week long backpacking trip with money I earned from babysitting and working at barre3, and I went with other high schoolers who I had never met. I’m passionate about excelling, adventuring, meeting new people, and democracy. My goals originate from my core values and passions. While most people want to be happy, my goal is to be content, but not complacent. Another goal of mine is to experience something new everyday, which forces me out of my comfort zone. I am a great candidate because this scholarship would help me to experience something new (college), as well as become content with excelling in new fields, especially later in the foreign service.
