When I was younger I had little to no friends, and it was extremely difficult for me to talk to people. Visual and performing arts literally changed my life. I went from being the sort of person who would literally systematically avoid people to someone who is very well accustomed to public speaking and talking to people. I believe there is nothing more fulfilling than achieving an education. In fact, some of my favourite subjects include calculus and political science. However, I also consider art to be a very instrumental part of my education because it has given me the communication skills and plasticity I need to function in life and in the workplace. Unfortunately, a lot of people still believe that VAPA should not be prioritized as much as STEM subjects in schools. I want a chance to educate people on the practical benefits a VAPA education provides. I want to show people that performing arts is not just for the extroverted and flamboyant—it is for everyone.
